ShotGroups ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our firearm training application. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
We collect the following types of information: (a) Account Information: your email address and authentication credentials when you create an account; (b) Training Data: target photos you upload, analysis results, session metadata (date, distance, firearm type, round count, range type, conditions), accuracy scores, and grouping data; (c) Challenge Data: challenger profiles you create, bracket tournament data, and match results; (d) Usage Data: how you interact with the Service, including features used and session frequency; and (e) Payment Information: processed by Stripe — we never store your credit card number, expiry date, or CVV on our servers.
We use your information to: (a) provide target analysis and generate performance insights; (b) track your progress and display trends over time; (c) facilitate bracket challenges and match comparisons; (d) process subscription payments through Stripe; (e) send you service-related notifications and updates; (f) improve our trained models and service quality; and (g) ensure security, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations. Your training data is used solely to provide the Service to you — it is not used to train shared models or sold to third parties.
We do not share your personal data with third parties except: (a) Stripe — for processing subscription payments, subject to Stripe's privacy policy; (b) our analysis provider — to generate target analysis results, subject to strict data processing agreements; (c) as required by law or legal process; and (d) in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Your training data is never shared with other users. Challenge data is only visible to you. Each user's data is isolated and protected by Row-Level Security, ensuring no user can access another user's data.
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data. This includes: (a) encryption of data in transit using TLS 1.2+; (b) encryption of data at rest; (c) Row-Level Security (RLS) ensuring each user can only access their own records; (d) secure authentication with token-based session management; (e) regular security audits and vulnerability assessments; and (f) strict access controls limiting internal access to authorized personnel only. Despite our efforts, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription, we retain your data for 30 days to allow for resubscription. After 30 days, all your data — including target photos, analysis results, sessions, challenges, and challenger profiles — is permanently deleted from our systems. Payment records are retained as required by law for financial record-keeping purposes. Free trial data is deleted 90 days after account creation if the trial is not converted to a paid plan.
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data: (a) Access — request a copy of your data; (b) Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data; (c) Erasure — request deletion of your data; (d) Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format; (e) Objection — object to certain processing of your data; and (f) Withdrawal of consent — withdraw consent for processing that relies on consent. We use minimal cookies and tracking technologies to operate the Service. We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising cookies or sell tracking data to third parties. Analytics cookies, if used, help us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling essential cookies may prevent the Service from functioning properly.
The Service is not directed to children under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a minor, we will take steps to delete that information. If you believe we have collected data from a minor, please contact us immediately.
ShotGroups analyzes photos of shooting targets. We do not collect or store information about specific firearms, serial numbers, or firearm ownership. The firearm type, caliber, and distance information you provide is used solely for training analysis and is not reported to any government agency or third party. You are responsible for complying with all applicable local, state, and federal laws regarding firearm use and training.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and, for significant changes, by sending a notification to your registered email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
ShotGroups operates on the honor system. When you log a training session or participate in heats, Versus matches, or seasons, you self-report information such as shooting distance, conditions, and firearm details. ShotGroups does not independently verify this self-reported information. Your self-reported data is stored in your private account and is not shared with other users except as described in this Privacy Policy (e.g., public leaderboard entries showing your handle, score, and rank). No betting, wagering, or financial gain is permitted through the platform, and no financial rewards are offered for participation or performance.
